About James

James Makau Nzomo (1986 – 2021) was a highly skilled software developer, hardware developer, and DevOps engineer. At the time of his death, James worked in DevOps at JUMO, a financial technology company. He was active in the Kenyan tech ecosystem, including running the Python Nairobi user group and organising the annual Python conference in Kenya, PyConKe.

He is remembered for his inquisitive mind, unique brand of humour, sharp intellect, spirit of adventure, love of travel, and enjoyment of life. From paragliding in Cape Town to biking in Edinburgh, James loved to take on exciting adventures all over the world. He was passionate about all things technology, an avid biker, and an aviation enthusiast. He loved to tinker with tech and machinery, and was always sharing golden nuggets on aeroplanes, motorcycles, cars, and computers. Through this foundation, we intend to keep his memory and passion for technology alive.
